The Siberian Athens team was founded in 2020. The reason for its birth is quite unusual. Recently, children's hockey has been actively developing in Tomsk. And at some point, the moms, waiting for their "young Kharlamovs" to train in the ice palace, decided to join in and try their luck on the ice as well. Our children's coach (now our coach), Sergey Nikolaevich Smyshlyaev, supported this idea.

"At first there were not many of us, a kind of mini-team. But over time, there were more and more girls, the young women from the closest neighborhoods began to connect with us mothers. So little by little our team left. formed. It turned out to be a funny story. At first, Sergey Nikolaevich taught the children the basics of hockey, and then their parents. We still remember this story with a smile.

Our team is interesting and versatile. Girls of different ages and different levels of training. The youngest player is 15 years old and the oldest is half a century old. There are girls who already have experience playing in the Women's Night Hockey League. We are all different, but one thing unites us: the love of hockey.

We held the first competitions in 2021 in our homeland, Tomsk, where we took first place. The name "SIBERIAN ATHENS" deserves it. Less than a month later, we debuted on the first trip to the city of Tatarsk, in the Novosibirsk region, where we performed well and finished in second place, losing in a tough fight only to the hosts of the tournament. Next season we plan to debut in the Women's Night Hockey League. "We hope everything turns out well for us, because all the girls have the desire and ambition for it."
